| Phoenix
Yacht Club is a non-profit making private members' club, run by the members,
for the members. With members and their families drawn from all walks of
life, the Phoenix Yacht Club depends entirely on its members for ensuring
that the yachts are maintained to a high standard. Every time a yacht is
used, the skipper and the crew are expected to leave the yacht in a better
condition than they found it. Professional yacht maintenance services are used to help with major repairs and improvements where the skills required are outside the scope of members. The Phoenix Yacht Club is a company limited by guarantee and its overall operation is guided by a Management Committee. Day-to-day operations are controlled by the Sailing Committee. All posts are elected at the annual AGM.. |

Going Sailing All of the sailing events are booked by the berth. Just call or email the Bookings Secretary to confirm your place. This means if you want to join a crew you don't have to find a Skipper and if you are a Skipper you don't have to find a crew. The sailing season is all year round with a short break for winter maintenance. As a member, it is your yacht just as much as anyone else in the crew (including the skipper). You are encouraged to try your hand at all the jobs on the boat, including taking command and minor maintenance. |

Training Weekends To enable members to improve their skills, intensive training weekends are run on both boats. During these weekends the crew can expect to practice boat handling under sail and power, night sailing, navigation etc.. These weekends start from Gosport on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. |

RYA Practical Training Phoenix Yacht Club offers wonderful opportunities to keen sailors who want to become skippers and for skippers to upgrade their qualifications. The Club is accredited as an RYA Recognised Training Centre for practical sailing courses. The Club's own RYA qualified instructors run regular courses on the Club boats at all levels from "Start Yachting" to Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster preparation courses. |

Club Sailing and
Special Events Rather less intensive than the training weekends are the club sailing and special events. These are highly enjoyable cruises visiting the Solent area and Poole over a weekend or France and the Channel Islands, over a Bank Holiday weekend. These are ideal events for getting started and meeting people. |

Special Summer
Cruises With extended cruising abilities, both boats have a sailing program with 2-3 month mid-season away from Gosport to allow the exploration of different waters. These have included a Round Britain cruise, Scotland, Ireland, the East Coast, Denmark, France, Northern Spain, the West Country and the Isles of Scilly. |
